Washington Cascades and Columbia Valley

From Seattle head north to Whidbey Island and then east up into the North Cascade Mountains. Route 20 takes you over Washington Pass, the highest on the Highway, with its great views and on to Winthrop a tourist town complete with frontier appearance. From Winthrop continue along Highway 20 east, then south alongside Lake Roosevelt and on to Spokane, eastern Washington’s main City and gateway to Northern Idaho. Returning west the tour takes in the Columbia River Valley at Walla Walla and then up through the Washington wine region to Yakima. Take Highway 410 along Mather Memorial Parkway through Mount Rainier National Park to Ashford close to Mount St Helens National Volcanic Monument. There is then a short journey to return to SeaTac airport.
