This southern California flydrive begins and ends in San Diego, just north of the Mexican border, and takes the scenic routes between stops in order to include some of the most beautiful scenery in Southern California. 

From the Pacific Ocean travel inland through apple orchards near Julian, continuing past the Salton Sea and through Anza Borrego Desert State Park to Palm Springs, an oasis created for wealthy Californians to escape the winter damp and fog of the coast. Here you will find luxurious resorts with spas and pools for total relaxation, golf courses and smart shopping malls.

Joshua Tree National Park is next on the list of natural delights, with rugged twisted mountains and huge piles of boulders, following a shower of rain the desert floor erupts with a profusion of wild flowers. 

On to Big Bear Lake in the San Bernardino Mountains, along the scenic Rim of the World Highway and finally the wine growing region around Temecula before returning to San Diego for a few days by the Ocean.
