Head south via Lufkin, flanked by the Angelina and Davy Crockett National Forests, to the Coast near Galveston, a highway for migratory birds. Follow the gulf coast southwest to Rockport near Corpus Christi with its great beaches and sheltered water behind the barrier islands.
