Miami and the Florida Keys
Drive the amazing Overseas Highway
This trip begins and ends in Miami, with its cosmopolitan vibe, restaurants and famous shopping opportunities. Greater Miami has miles and miles of beaches beckoning sun seekers, and nearby parks luring nature lovers to discover a fascinating variety of flora and fauna. In fact, Miami is the only place in the U.S. with two national parks. Be sure to visit the Everglades National Park with it’s untamed ecosystem unlike any other on earth, while Biscayne National Park protects the offshore tropical reefs.
Continuing to Key West, an island city and the state's southernmost point. Famed for its pastel coloured houses and laid-back attitude, and known more for its coral reefs than for its beaches. Be sure to visit Key West Aquarium, Mel Fisher Museum, Key West Lighthouse or perhaps take one of the Ghost Tours or a Dolphin-watching excursion. Amazing diving and snorkelling on the reefs.
Around midway between Miami and Key West lies Duck Key, a small, secluded island with all the features found in the Keys - glorious sunsets, (and sunrises for those awake to see them), aqua marine waters and a relaxing ambiance. Here fishing, snorkelling and dolphin encounters are the main activities.
Key Largo is in the upper Florida Keys, and is a popular holiday destination, it's known for its onshore and offshore state parks that provide opportunities for wildlife encounters, fishing, kayaking and diving. Divers and snorkelers visit John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park to view tropical fish and an underwater statue of Christ.
Return to Miami for the final night before your return home.
