Gone With The Wind

A fly drive holiday in Georgia and the Carolina's

Scarlett and Rhett would feel right at home on this fly drive holiday which takes in some of the south's most beautiful towns and coastal regions. The charm of the old South is still apparent and Charleston and Savannah's streets are full of tree-lined squares, historic buildings and southern hospitality. Atlanta was the home of Margaret Mitchell, author of Gone With The Wind, and much of her inspiration for the novel can be found in the stately plantation houses.

Visit one of the many attractions including the Daniel Stowe Botanical gardens that covers 110 acres and 9 themed gardens. At the Charlotte Museum of History interpreters in period costume take visitors through the 18th and 19th centuries.

One of South Carolinas most beautiful cities with cobbled streets and Historic architecture. Take a horse drawn carriage ride through the old district, visit boutiques and galleries and sample the delicious local cuisine. Close to the city are several elegant old plantation homes open to the public and offering a fascinating insight into life in the 18th century around the region.

The 300 year old history of the city is still evident in the buildings and tree shaded squares. Explore the River Front area of the city with restaurants and quaint shops and take part in a ghost tour. Visit nearby beaches of Hilton Head Island or Tybee island and explore Fort Jackson and Savannah's History Museum.

The heart of Georgia and home to Georgia's Music Hall of Fame and civil war history.

Home of the Masters Golf Tournament but also known as "the Garden City" with tree lined streets and shady squares perfect for an afternoon stroll.
